FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) ▬ Dense freezing fog along with freezing drizzle are helping keep the roads slick in spots even after yesterday’s snow. We officially picked up 1.3″ of snow Sunday at Fort Wayne International airport.
We will see cloudy conditions throughout the day, but after sunset is when more winter weather arrives. We could see a few snowflakes at the very beginning but that will quickly transition to sleet and freezing rain. Ice accumulations will remain below 0.10″ in Fort Wayne and Allen County. Temps will be warming during the event and the freezing rain will give way to plain old rain. This transition is expected to happen around midnight for Fort Wayne. The freezing rain won’t come to an end for the northern part of the viewing area until 3 a.m. possibly as late at 5 a.m.
It will take time for any ice that developed to melt. So plan for a slick morning commute Tuesday.
Rain is likely during the day Tuesday, before another cold front comes blowing in during the afternoon. Temps will be falling and so with the snow Tuesday night. Accumulations of 1″ possible.
Could see some snow continue Wednesday morning.
A few showers are possible late afternoon for Valentine’s Day, but rain will move in for Thursday night. Rain is likely to continue into Friday with a high of 40.
Another cold front moves in Saturday allowing for more snow possible. We will track all of this as we move through the week.
