Meteorologist Yasser Kishk joined Fort Wayne’s NBC in October 2016.

Born and raised in Oxford, Mississippi, home of the Ole Miss Rebels. Yasser knew he wanted to be a meteorologist since as far back as he could remember. As a kid he would watch with The Weather Channel for hours on end, and got most excited when there would be severe weather or snow. Events like the ice storm of 1994 that crippled north Mississippi with one to six inches of ice, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and the April 27, 2011 Tornado Outbreak that produced over 350 tornadoes are only a few of the events that shape his passion for weather. This is what fuels Yasser to bring you the most accurate weather forecast in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio to prepare for your day and keep you safe.

Yasser started his education at Ole Miss in August of 2010 before transferring to Mississippi State University August 2012 to major in broadcast meteorology. His career began in May of 2013 as an intern @NashSevereWx or Nashville Severe Weather on Twitter, forecasting and witting blog posts everyday and working with David Drobny, founder of Nashville Severe Weather for more than a year. In May 2014, he graduated from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi.

Yasser’s first on-air position came in November of 2014 at KOTA Territory News in Rapid City, South Dakota, where he was the second meteorologist on the brand new #1 morning show in the market, Good Morning KOTA Territory. For two years, he reported, filled in for the other meteorologist, and worked as a web content producer wearing many hats in the newsroom.

He worked in one of the most diverse and active weather markets in the country with some of the world’s fastest changing weather, covering everything from severe thunderstorms, May blizzards and high wind. Experiencing all four season on a day of weather was not uncommon.

In his spare time, Yasser likes storm chasing every chance he gets, traveling, trying out new restaurants, hiking, camping, fishing, enjoying the outdoors, cooking, and is an avid fan of SEC college football cheering on his Ole Miss Rebels.

Wake up each weekday with Yasser, along with the rest of the morning crew, on Fort Wayne’s NBC at 5 to 7 a.m.
