San Diego Chargers rookie linebacker Drue Tranquill came away with an interception in the third quarter of Thursday night’s preseason opener at Arizona.

The Notre Dame grad had three interceptions in his college career.

“He’s been practicing well,” Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said in his post-game press conference.

“He’s a former safety so his cover skills showed up, and that was a good thing to see.”

The Carroll grad will be featured on Fort Wayne’s NBC August 30, Friday night at 7 p.m. for the station’s annual Irish Outlook special, featuring Notre Dame football.
