The MAC summer Pro Am continuing this summer, now for the women, of the Fort Wayne area and beyond, to show off their skills.
Former high school and collegiate stars tipped off Monday night, building off the camaraderie they once had, playing together and against one another at a younger age.
“I went to South Side and I got three girls, four that were on our team that actually come to play here,” Jasmine Harvey, league founder said during the Monday night games.
“Some of them are not on the same team, so we get to play against those girls, too.”
Snider grad and former Western Michigan guard Deja Wimby keeps her playing days alive in this new league.
“This is a really good thing for me to do,” Wimby said.
“I think it’s a lot of fun.”
Even girls who just graduated, like Snider’s Da’Leshia Davis, are playing at McMillen, preparing for college ball.
“No sitting around,” Davis said.
“Play some pickup games with my old, little friends, and keep working.”
In this particular league’s first year, 45 women are, currently, enrolled.
