Drama unfolding at Carroll High on Thursday night, as Leo pitcher Ashley Miller helped her own cause, breaking open a, 3-3, tie off a bunt RBI single.

Then, Miller closed the deal in the bottom of the seventh for another win, sealing a sixth straight sectional title for the Lions.

“We just fought back,” Miller said after the win.

“We didn’t want the season to be over.”

Leo head coach Benjamin Shappell has been here and done that over the last six years, but he felt the pressure on Thursday night.

“Ashley Miller with that squeeze to score the winning run was absolutely amazing,” Shappell said.

“She leads the team in home runs, and for her to sacrifice for the team and to put that bunt in play, just shows how much she’s committed to the team, and the whole team’s committed to each other.”
