State-bound Blackhawk headed to Banker’s Life

When both teams were announced at North Side Middle School in Elkhart, IN, looking at one side’s players, then another’s, it was clear to see Blackhawk (27-2) had a significant size advantage against Lafayette Central (24-5) Catholic, and with that, the Braves imposed their will from tip to win, convincingly, 74-51, breaking open the doors to Banker’s Life.

Despite the usual suspect Frankie Davidson leading the day with a game-high 17 points, this was a team effort from the start, with four Braves hitting double-digits.

“We’ve got a group that plays with joy, and I think that’s such a powerful motivator,” Blackhawk head coach Marc Davidson said as his Braves booked a ticket to state for the first time, since 2004.

Blackhawk plays Barr-Reeve (26-2) next Saturday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m. for the state title at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse.
