FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE’S NBC) – Brian Johnson, a mini-golf phenom, is proud of his Fort Wayne roots, but he’s also happy to wear the red, white, and blue. Johnson will represent the United States at the World Adventure Golf Masters in Sweden. While winning a world title sounds filled with pressure, Johnson knows fun is where this journey began.

“I think if you take it too seriously and lose the fun aspect, you’re losing the heart of the game,” Johnson said.

It’s fun that lead Johnson to the top 15 mini golfers in the world, according to minigolfnews.com.

“Anytime you’re in the conversation among the best in the world at anything, I’ve worked all my life to be good at this game,” he said. “It’s an amazing feeling knowing that I’m capable of doing something this well.”

Johnson says after the team landed forth place the last two years at this level, he believes the US is close to a medal.

“I’m very optimistic that one of the USA teams will bring home a medal this year. That’s the true goal because from what I’ve been told, no team out of the continental Europe has ever taken a team medal in this event.”
