LEO-CEDARVILLE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE’S NBC) – Bellmont and Leo are riding undefeated winning streaks, heading into the Northeast Eight Championship game, but one trend ends on Wednesday night. Bellmont rises to the occasion, winning 2-1, claiming the NE8 title.

“We just knew we were going to give it our all and the team that fought the hardest would get this game tonight. We executed what we wanted to do,” Head Coach, Sandy Busick said.

Bellmont’s starting pitcher, Macy Montgomery, lead her team with seven strikeouts, allowing five hits and one earned run. Tori Miller hit a RBI single for the first mark on the scoreboard, while Rylie Velez bunted, helping Lauren Bleke score from third for the second run.

“You have to pitch to contact and let your defense do the work, and clearly the defense proved that there just as much part of this team than I am. They deserve all the credit for that win,” Montgomery said.
