FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Homestead beat South Side in the SAC Holiday Tournament, 43-30. This is the Spartan’s third title in just four years. The freshman, Ayanna Patterson lead the box score with a game-high 20 points.
“We really played well together. We moved the ball and shot the ball confidently. Even when our shots weren’t going in, we found different ways to impact the game,” Kara Gealy said.
Before the game, Rod Parker believed it would be defense that would help his team win, and it was.
“I thought we defended very well and hit some big shots in the third and the fourth when we had to,” Parker said.
For the first time since 1997, the same high school wins the boys and girls holiday tournament. The Homestead boys team beat Snider on Friday, 65-49.
