One man dead after early morning shooting in Southwest Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – One man is dead after an early Thursday morning shooting in Southwest Fort Wayne.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers responded to an apartment in the 2900 block of Boardwalk Circle on a report of a shooting just before 1:30 a.m.  Authorities arrived and located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound lying outside the apartment.

Investigators are trying to determine what the relationship was between the two men. There were no other injuries or persons involved. At this time no charges have been filed.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

FWPD says initial information from witnesses indicates shortly after the victim arrived at the apartment complex, a disturbance was heard between two males and gunshots were fired.

The man who police believe did the shooting is being considered a person of interest and is currently being interviewed at the police station, along with other witnesses on scene.

The name of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

At this time no charges have been filed.
