Planning commission to decide on proposal for new apartment community

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — The Fort Wayne Plan Commission will meet to decide if a proposal to build new apartments should be approved.

RealAmerica Development LLC wants to build hundreds of apartment units 72 acres near Maplecrest and St. Joe Roads.

The project was proposed in 2017 but has yet to be approved. In the original proposal, the developer said many of the units would be senior citizen apartments, while other units would be for the general public.

RealAmerica operates several apartment complexes around town including Chestnut Hills Apartments, Newburyport Apartments, Orchard Place, Tillwater Pointe and Randall Lofts.

The meeting takes place at 5:30 p.m. in room 035 in Citizens Square located at 200 East Berry.
