FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A Fort Wayne family who has been searching for their missing son for more than seven months says he has been found dead.

He was last seen on January 16th, 2019, and has been missing ever since.

His parents say they last heard from him when he called from the Lassus Handy Dandy on Spy Run asking for a ride home, but since then, it’s been silence.

Right before he went missing, police issued a warrant for his arrest in connection to a battery investigation.

In May, a man told police that Mbwelera attacked him inside a home several months earlier.

The details surrounding his death are unclear at this point, and the family is searching for answers.

“I just want to see more investigation. I don’t think that our finding him just raises suspicion that something foul happened,” Jabari’s father, Kamari Mbwelera said.

Fort Wayne’s NBC is working to confirm the details with authorities.

The family is planning for a funeral for Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. at Abundant Love Church.

All are welcome to attend.
