Columbia City man dies in off-road vehicle accident

NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A Columbia City man died after his off-road vehicle rolled overnight.

Just after 9 p.m. Thursday, someone called 911 to the intersection of 600 S. and Old Road 102 near Columbia City for reports of an accident with injuries.

First responders found Kenneth Stroud, 61, of Columbia City, unresponsive in the roadway near a 2019 Polaris Sportsman 570 that had been rolled on its side.

Medics treated him at the scene and then flew him to a Fort Wayne hospital.

Stroud later died overnight.

Conservation officers investigating the crash believe he was driving recklessly and lost control of his ORV.

Detectives think that’s when he was thrown from the vehicle, and it rolled on top of him.

He wasn’t wearing a helmet.
