Ohio police searching for missing woman

CELINA, Ohio (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Ohio police are searching for a 33-year-old woman who has been missing since last Saturday.

Mercer County Ohio Sherrif Jeff Grey said his office is working with other law enforcement agencies to find Shawna Lynn Rue. Her last known address was 201 S. Walnut St., Union City, Indiana, but she was last seen in Mercer County, Ohio visiting her husband who is incarcerated there.

Police said the woman’s sister reported her missing on Aug. 8, and that she might be going by her married name, Shawna Ressler.

Police said she visited her husband at the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, and police spoke with Steve Ressler about the visit.

He told police that they talked about some issues that did not make Shawna happy, and offered some locations that she might have gone to.

Law enforcement didn’t find her at any of those locations.

Police said Shawna left the jail in her black Chevy Trailblazer, and at the time, there was no indication of foul play.

Later that night, she dropped her kids off at their grandmother’s house in Union City, Indiana.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the Darke County Sheriff’s Office have both issued “Be On the Lookout” for Shawna.

“At this point, I don’t believe Mercer County has jurisdiction,” stated Sheriff Grey,

“It appears that she was fine when she dropped the children off, and that is her last known location at this time, which is not in Mercer County. We are continuing efforts to locate Shawna, however, we have obtained no new leads.”

If anyone has any information on her whereabouts, contact the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office at 419-586-7724.
