Wabash City Police trying to figure out how a man wound up dead in the street

WABASH, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Wabash City Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old man after they found his body lying in the street earlier this week.

On Monday, July 15, someone called police to report a loud bang around 11 p.m. in the 200 Block of East Main Street.

Police showed up and found the man dead in the street.

Investigators later identified him as Richard Alex Watkins, 31, of Wabash.

It was not immediately clear how he died, and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Wabash Police are asking if anyone has any information that may be of assistance to contact Detective Jason Mooney at the Wabash City Police at 260-563-1112.
