USWNT secures World Cup title over Netherlands

FRANCE (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – The United States Women’s National Soccer team remain world champions after a dominant 2-0 win against the Netherlands Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, co-captain Alex Morgan went down in the box earning a penalty thanks to a VAR (Video Assistant Referee) decision.

Golden Boot and Golden Ball winner Megan Rapinoe had first blood in the 60th minute from the penalty spot.

About 8 minutes later, young gun Rose Lavelle made it a 2-0 game.

Following five minutes of extra time, the United States Women’s National team raised the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the 4th time.
