Warsaw woman accused of having relationship with foreign exchange student

WARSAW, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A 30-year-old Warsaw woman is accused of having sex with an exchange student who was staying with her.

On June 12, the Warsaw Police Department learned of an alleged inappropriate behavior between a Danish foreign exchange student and a member of the host family.

The 17-year-old male juvenile and the suspect were both interviewed as part of the case, and police were able to download forensic evidence.

In this case, the woman is considered a “custodian” per state statute, who resided with the child and was responsible for the child’s welfare during the time he was enrolled in the foreign exchange program.

As a result of their investigation, police arrested 30-year-old Stephanie Emrie on a felony child seduction charge as well as a possession of child pornography charge.

Warsaw Police say the student’s program staff members and management have cooperative with investigators throughout this investigation.

The child’s parents, already awaiting his arrival in Chicago, drove to the Warsaw Police Department, where they met with police investigators and officials from the Department of Child Services.

Ultimately, the juvenile was returned to the care of his parents in order to prepare for a flight back to their country.
