FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — Residents at Coventry Meadows Assisted Living spent Wednesday night “Under the Stars” during a special event by putting a spin on a typical “Senior” prom.

Instead of the usual tuxedo and gowns you’ll see at a high school prom, the residents took dates dressed in a variety of uniforms.

The event was not only a way for the residents to relive their days as students, but an honor for local first responders.

Coventry Meadows told us they took their residents around to local police and fire departments as well as hospitals to give their “promposals” which seemed to have worked well as over 20 emergency professionals attended Wednesday.

Fort Wayne’s NBC reporter Kaitlyn Kendall spent the night with former disco instructor Thelma Hoffmann who was crowned prom queen at the end of the night.  She says the night meant more to her than her high school prom.  “See my school was much smaller,” Thelma said, “nothing as big as a deal as this.”
