DECATUR, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Police in northeast Indiana were able to protect an elderly woman as a trio of “intruders” trashed her apartment.

On Tuesday, a woman in the Woodcrest Retirement Village called to report that three deer had jumped through a window in her apartment.

When officers got there, the woman was still sitting on the couch with one of the deer jumping back and forth across her.

One of the deputies laid across her to shield her from injury as the other two officers helped get her out of the chaos.

First responders were able to get the deer out one at a time with the help of tranquilizers. None of the deer were badly hurt, and police set them free.

The woman was not hurt, and the complex has moved her to another unit while hers is repaired.
