FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — The Portillo’s restaurant chain says they plan to open at the location where Sears used to operate in Glenbrook Square Mall sometime later this year.
In March the Fort Wayne Plan Commission voted to let developers build Portillo’s following the tear down of Sears and the auto center next door as part of the “Shoppes at Glenbrook” development project.
In a press release, Portillo’s CEO Michael Osanloo said “Portillo’s is excited to expand to Northeast Indiana’s booming retail and economic hub. Indiana has become a second home to our brand, and we look forward to joining the Fort Wayne community.”
The Fort Wayne location will be the sixth Portillo’s in Indiana. The restaurant is known for their Chicago-style hot dogs.
Portillo’s says the Fort Wayne restaurant will measure 7,800 square feet and seat more than 190 guests. Features will also include a seasonal patio outdoors and a double drive through. The restaurant also says the inside decor will have a feel from the 1950s and 1960s.
