Motorcyclist critically hurt in crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run crash Saturday afternoon.

Around 1:15 p.m., witnesses say a motorcycle and a dark colored car crashed at the intersection of W. Cook and Landlord Lane.

Witnesses told police the driver of the car took off from the scene into a nearby neighborhood.

Officers were able to quickly track down the car involved in the crash. They are interviewing the owner of the car to figure out who was driving at the time of the crash.

Police believe the motorcycle was headed east on Cook Road approaching the intersection.

That’s when investigators think the passenger car traveling in the opposite director swerved in front of the motorcycle, striking it.

At this point, police think speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this accident.

Cook Road was closed from Fritz Road to Carrington Boulevard until 4 p.m. Saturday.
