Fort Wayne, Ind (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — An arrest has been made in connection to a fatal shooting on the southeast side of Fort Wayne earlier this month.
Antoine Kelley Jr., 28, was arrested Friday in Chattanooga, Tennessee on an outstanding murder warrant for the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Darius McMorris. McMorris was found fatally shot to death in a home at 5419 S. Harrison Street on April 1.
According to court documents, Kelley picked up McMorris and several other people in Chicago on Sunday, March 24 and brought them to stay at a home on the southeast side of Fort Wayne. According to one witness, the group was coming to Fort Wayne to “hit a lick.”
Multiple witnesses told police after a few days in Fort Wayne Kelley became paranoid and thought people were trying to kill him. On the morning of April 1, witnesses say Kelley was pacing around the house and appeared to be on drugs. Then he told people staying at the house that he wanted to go to the grocery store with McMorris.
When McMorris started to get ready in the bathroom, a witness told police they saw Kelley walk in and fire several shots at McMorris. Another witness said when Kelley came back out, he pointed the gun like he was going to shoot them, but then ran out of the house. No details were provided about how the Fort Wayne Police Department later found Kelley in Tennessee.
He will be formally charged once he’s extradited to Allen County.
