Coroner ID’s Fort Wayne barbershop owner, rules his shooting death a homicide

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office officially ruled the death of a local business owner shot and killed in front of his barber shot a homicide.

Michael LoVett Jr., 46, was shot several times on the city’s near north side Tuesday near the intersection of Lake and Anthony outside the Legendary Barbershop.

On Thursday, the Allen County ruled his death the 6th homicide in Allen County and Fort Wayne in 2019.

Officers found him lying on the sidewalk outside the barbershop he owned Thursday evening.

Police believe two men ran towards Lakeside Park and that a teal vehicle may have been involved in the crime.

As they canvassed the surrounding neighborhoods, detectives asked residents if they had any home security footage that shows any unusual activity at that time.
