FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Some little boys and girls are making a big difference in the lives of those in need, raising money for materials and then crafting blankets for an organization that helps families going through tough times.

The children — ages 3 to 6 — attend Southwest Montessori Academy. Late last year, they operated a bake sale to raise money so they could buy fabric that would become four blankets, to be donated to Project Linus.

It’s a charitable group formed to: Provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

The boys and girls each took part in the creation process, which recently concluded.

The blankets will now go to homes where they will be put to good use.
