Teen driver breaks leg in rollover crash

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – A 16-year-old driver is recovering in the hospital with a broken leg after he lost control on an ice-covered road.

The crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. Friday in the 5800 block of SR 8 in Butler, Indiana.

Police say 16-year-old Colben D. Steury was driving a pickup truck eastbound on SR 8 when he said he hit something in the road and lost control.

The truck went into a ditch and then jumped over three driveways.

After hitting the third driveway, police say the truck rolled and struck a tree.

His passenger, 15-year-old Nicolas Blair, suffered cuts to his head.

DeKalb County Police say speeds too fast for the road conditions contributed to the crash.
