COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A review board in Ohio’s capital city says a police officer followed policy when he fatally shot a man who authorities said stabbed two women and a man to death and critically injured another woman a year ago.
Police say Sgt. Gregg Seevers shot the 64-year-old suspect while another officer used a stun gun. The suspect was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The shooting and the killings happened on April 30, 2018.
Columbus police said Friday that the division’s Firearms/Police-Involved Death Review Board determined the shooting was within the agency’s use of force policy. A grand jury earlier this year declined to bring charges against Seevers.
Those killed included the suspect’s 33-year-old estranged wife and the 18-year-old daughter and 19-year-old son of another woman who was critically injured.
