Julian attended Concordia High School and then went on to graduate cum laude from Ball State University with a degree in telecommunications and journalism.
During her time there, she was a reporter and anchor for Newslink Indiana, Ball State’s Emmy award-winning nightly newscast.
She also won an award from the Society of Professional Journalists for her story about students misusing the drug Adderall to help them study.

She started out as a reporter, and was eventually promoted to the weekend anchor position.
She finished her career there as the station’s morning anchor.
