FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — Yet another piece of public art is adding some flare to the Fort.
On Friday, officials with the Parks and Recreation Department unveiled the latest addition to Promenade Park—a sculpture designed by Linda Howard.
The sculpture, titled Convergence, was revealed just two weeks before Promenade Park’s grand opening, which is now set for August 9-11.
We previously reported that the project along St. Marys River was supposed to open on June 21, but officials said heavy rains in the spring caused delays in the development.
The grand opening will feature a floating band performance, community art projects, lighted boat parade, butterfly release, and boat rides.
Project officials say the park is designed to be a community gathering place that includes a tree canopy trail, a large plaza, a pavilion, and a dining facility.
