Johnny Appleseed Park to close playground during construction

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – To make way for construction crews, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation will close the Johnny Appleseed Park playground next week.

The parks department will start construction on a new restroom facility near the playground on or around Monday, July 29.

Because of the construction and consideration of park visitor safety, officials plan to close the Johnny Appleseed playground for the duration of the work.

Crews anticipate the work to wrap up in October.

Park officials say the new restrooms will make it easier for families to enjoy the playground area.
