EVENTS: Fright Night in downtown Fort Wayne on Saturday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) Fright Night in downtown Fort Wayne is back for another year of family-friendly spooks.

Fright Night is an event put on by the Downtown Improvement District each year. This year, things kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 19, with activities running until midnight throughout downtown Fort Wayne.

The most popular event is the Zombie Walk, where hundreds of people use makeup and costumes to transform into the undead.

The Zombie Walk is expected to begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Allen County Public Library Plaza downtown.

Before you join the ranks of the undead in this year’s Zombie Walk, you’re welcome to check out the pre-walk activities scattered throughout downtown.

With more than 30 ghoulishly great activities for people to enjoy throughout the day and evening, Fright Night has something for everyone.

New this year:

JINKIES! A SCOOBY MYSTERY TO SOLVE
Head to Teen Department at the Downtown Allen County Public Library to find a horror mystery
themed game where players sift through clues to solve a series of puzzles. Do you think you can solve
mysteries like Velma? Are you as witless and hungry as Shaggy? Are you talking to a dog like Scooby? If
you answered “Yes” to any of those questions, drive your Mystery Machine down to the Allen County
Public Library in the morning and put your skills to the test. Players will sift through the clues to solve a
mystery.

GET TO THE ROOFTOP FOR SAFETY OR GET YOUR ZOMBIE FILL UP DOWNSTAIRS
Race to the Rooftop for your life and enjoy one of the drink specials. Sit back in safety and watch the Zombies crawl through the streets. Rooftop 21+ after 7pm.Fuel your walk on with a zombie shake or brains burger from the Conner’s Burger Bar on Jefferson Street. Conner’s Rooftop and Burger Bar offering specialty items and drinks all day to celebrate Fright Night!

GHOSTLY GALA: RISE OF THE VILLAINS
New at the Grand Wayne! Bring your little Villains for a fun, family-friendly evening of “bad guy” fun and
games. It’s a Maleficent opportunity for you and your little ones to hook into a great photo opportunity.
Who knows what villains may descend upon us. Dr. Feelgood will bring the funky, fresh dance’s beat to
move those little feet. Science Central will be here to cook up some villainous fun. Be sure to take a
moment and enjoy up-close magic, face painting and balloon art as well as some Witchy treats. Surprises
await as we win one for the bad guys. While all are welcome to see what villainous fun awaits this
evening will be best enjoyed by those 8 and under.

MURDER MYSTERY, NEVERMORE: “THE TELL-TALE HEART”
Your help is needed at Promenade Park to solve the originally crafted murder mystery inspired by the
short story “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe. You will be set loose in the park to explore the
murder scene, collect evidence, solve puzzles, and interrogate the suspects as you enjoy heavy hors
d’oeuvres. Costumes are encouraged (but not required) and prizes will be given for best costumes and
best mystery-solvers. Purchase tickets by October 1st. Ages 21+.

CHAMPIONS OF MAGIC
Head to the Embassy to experience the “magic” of theater! Champions of Magic is five world-class
illusionists who present a mind-bending theatrical production. This cast of top magicians includes award
winners presenting incredible mind reading, stunning close-up magic and daring large-scale illusions.
The Champions of Magic team perform incredible illusions with supercars, an impossible escape from
Houdini’s water torture cell, a mind-blowing prediction that has to be seen to be believed, levitation
high above the stage and a finale beyond explanation. The show features spectacular magic that can’t be
seen anywhere else. It is an incredible experience for the entire family.
