HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — The 28-year-old Huntington man found guilty of fatally stabbing a man on New Year’s Day 2018 has learned his fate.
Fort Wayne’s NBC previously reported that then-27-year-old Ryan Richison fatally stabbed Kyle Randall, 29, on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2018.
Police say the stabbing happened during a fight at a New Year’s Eve party in the 1400 block of Canfield Street. Randall was found unconscious and bleeding inside the home around 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day, after police say he had been stabbed in the chest. He later died at the hospital.
Richison was initially facing charges of murder, voluntary manslaughter, residential entry and criminal mischief. However, the murder charge was dropped in August when a jury found him guilty of the above three charges.
On Tuesday, Richison was sentenced to 21 years behind bars and 6 years of probation.
He was sentenced to spend 20 years in prison for the charge of voluntary manslaughter, with 5 years on probation. He was also sentenced to 1 year in prison for the charge of residential entry with 1 year of probation, to be served at the same time as his 90 day sentence for criminal mischief.
