Inmate death ruled suicide at Allen County Jail, Sheriff’s Department investigating

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — An investigation is underway after officials say a 44-year-old inmate’s death at the Allen County Jail has been ruled a suicide.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office announced on Tuesday that Perry M. Ziko, 44, died on September 14 from apparent suicide.

The coroner says his cause of death was determined to be asphyxia due to hanging, and the manner of death is suicide.

Ziko was arrested on charges of domestic battery and strangulation on September 11.

At the time of this report, the incident is under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
