Woman shows up at local hospital shot, critically wounded

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — Fort Wayne police want to know what led to a woman being shot early Sunday morning and ending up at a local hospital.

Police say they responded to a home in the 4000 block of Smith Street just after 4 Sunday morning on reports of a domestic battery investigation.

While there, officers say they learned that a woman who was possibly involved in that investigation was no longer at the home.

They say they later were told by people at the scene that the woman ended up being taken to a local hospital where doctors in the emergency room determined she had life-threatening injuries.

Police say they took a man from the home in for questioning.

They also say they have not made any arrests as they continue their investigation.

No names or other information is available at this time.
