Special Prosecutor appointed in Allen County Sheriff investigation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — A Madison County Prosecutor will now be overseeing the case regarding an alleged incident involving the Allen County Sheriff.

Fort Wayne’s NBC previously reported that Allen County’s highest law enforcement officer, Sheriff David Gladieux,  is being investigated by the Indiana State Police for his alleged involvement in a disturbance at the Three Rivers Festival Tuesday night.

Fort Wayne Police confirmed with Fort Wayne’s NBC they were called to a disturbance Tuesday night involving Allen County Sheriff David Gladieux. It was not immediately clear if the Sheriff was on duty at the time.

Fort Wayne Police said their investigators have forwarded the case to the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

On Friday, Prosecuting Attorney Karen Richards announced that they had filed a petition seeing a Special Prosecutor in the case.

The petition was approved, and Madison County Prosecutor Rodney Cummings accepted the appointment.

Richards said the investigation is currently pending, and all parties are “ethically unable to comment any further”.
