FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE’S NBC) – Joe Caldwell began The Fort Wayne 5, and little did he realize, the executive producer and personality of “The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz”, Mike Ryan Ruiz, would visit Fort Wayne because of it.
“I thought it would be like eight of us and it would be funny. We would take a picture and that would be the end of it,” Caldwell said. “Before we knew it, the whole show was going to come up, but we will definitely be satisfied with Mike Ryan, a member of the show, being here today.”
Ruiz attended the TinCaps rubber match against the Peoria Chiefs, and hundreds of fans were there early to meet him.
“Surreal for our little Miami show to grow nationally, to even air in Fort Wayne. If you told me that when I started, when I was 19, it would of been bonkers,” Ruiz said. “It’s a rallying cry, like I get the show, and defend it at all cost it would seem. I’m honored to be here.”
Mayor Tom Henry pushed this Fort Wayne 5 movement even further, after talking on the show.
