Sheriff’s Deputy takes teen into custody after seeing handgun

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Fort Wayne Police say a male juvenile and an adult woman are in custody after the teen pulled out a gun in the West State Plaza parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, an Allen County Sheriff’s Deputy was parked in the West State Plaza parking lot.

A Fort Wayne Police spokesman tells Fort Wayne’s NBC this officer witnessed a male juvenile pull out a handgun.

Numerous officers responded, and police took a male juvenile and an adult woman into custody.

No one was hurt, and no shots were fired.

“When we see a weapon, we respond in a certain manner for the safety of all citizens and the officers involved,” Sgt. Jim Seay said.
