Police seeking help identifying potential witness to fatal Warsaw crash

WARSAW, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — Police are trying to find the driver of a vehicle that was near where a student was killed while crossing the street.

Fort Wayne’s NBC previously reported 8-year-old Gidieon Cook was killed while walking home from summer school Monday afternoon. They were crossing Husky Trail when a driver turned onto the street, fatally hitting him.

Warsaw police say the driver of a Ford Focus turned onto Husky Trail just before the fatal crash. They want to speak with the driver a potential witness to the environment seconds before the crash happened. The driver could be helpful to the investigators.

Anyone with information on the driver’s identity is being asked to call the Warsaw Police Department at 574-372-9515.
