INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — This past weekend, a special one at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis with a special Fort Wayne connection.
Little Gabriella Maher, who’s almost a year and a half, is a Riley Kid from right here in The Fort.
She’s undergoing treatment for a heart defect and an enlarged heart.
Gabriella and her team full of family members including dad, Alex, who works here at the station, mom, Grace and big brother, 3 year old Lucas, took-part in Saturday’s fourth annual Critical Care Walk-a-Thon.
One of Gabriella’s doctors selected her for this Walk of Support.
So, family and friends, like so many other teams, asked for donations to support Pediatric Critical Care Research.
The teams stepped out Saturday morning, bright and early, with a $20,000 goal, and they came quite close to reaching it with nearly $19,300 raised!
We’re so proud of Gabriella and her team raising so much money for her and other children from The Fort who have experienced amazing care by amazing people at Riley.
Our thanks to Alex for sharing his daughter’s story.
