Neighbors hear gunshots; police find one man dead inside Fort Wayne apartment

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting on the city’s southeast side of town.

FWPD officers were called to the 3400 block of Cheviot Drive in response to a shooting in the Waterloo Gardens Apartments around 2 p.m. on Friday.

FWPD Public Information Officer Mike Joyner told Fort Wayne’s NBC that someone called 911 to request an EMS for medical assistance at the apartments.

EMS crews then called police for assistance, and police arrived at the scene and entered the upstairs apartment unit. Officers said they found a man down on the ground who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they have launched a death investigation involving the incident.
