Arrest made in Monday night Weisser Park shooting

UPDATE:  Fort Wayne police information officer, Mark Bieker, tells Fort Wayne’s NBC News that police made an arrest Tuesday in a shooting that took place Monday night at Weisser Park in the 3200 block of South Hanna on the city’s south side.

Police say 19-year old Keshon Rogan is preliminarily charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness.

UPDATE:  Fort Wayne police have identified the victim in Monday night’s shooting as 19-year-old Trevon Giddens. He was last listed in critical condition.

Officers say Giddens was shot just after 8 Monday night at Weisser Park in the 3200 block of South Hanna Street and was transported by car by either a relative or friend in critical condition to a local hospital. That person contacted police to tell them a man had been shot.

Crime scene technicians and homicide detectives are at the scene investigating.

Fort Wayne police department public information officer Mark Bieker tells Fort Wayne’s NBC News that there is no suspect information at this time, and he asked members of the public that if there is information someone can share, to call police right away.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — Fort Wayne police dispatch confirm with Fort Wayne’s NBC News that a victim is in critical condition from some kind of incident that took place just after 8 Monday night in the 3000 block of Hanna Street on the city’s southeast side.

They also confirm that a call came in to them about gunshots being fired around the same time.

They do not confirm that the two incidents are related.

They also tell us police are surrounding the area, including Weisser Park.

Witnesses say police are on the Weisser Park tennis court with flashlights.
