18-year-old shot and killed on Senate Avenue

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – An 18-year-old Fort Wayne man was shot and killed Tuesday evening on the city’s south side, the Allen County Coroner says.

Demarcus Lontino Hale Jr. was found lying in the 1100 block of Senate Avenue Tuesday evening.

He died from his gunshot wounds, and the coroner ruled his death a homicide.

Police say witnesses told them that they saw 2 people running from the scene, but they don’t have specific suspect information.

They also say the shooting happened close to Abbett Elementary School but not on school property.

Homicide and crime scene technicians and police dogs all searched the area for evidence.

Still no word on any possible suspect or suspects.

Hale Jr.’s death marks the 3rd homicide in Allen County in 2019.
