FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – Officials from the Indiana Department of Transportation warned folks to brace for slick roads.

With many roads being wet, officials said they expect road conditions to freeze over night. They said temperatures quickly changing from warm to sub-freezing is known as ‘flash freezing.’

Officials said the road conditions can be more dangerous than usual due to black ice.

Due to the recent rain, officials said they weren’t able to pre-treat the roads. They said several hundred trucks across the Hoosier state will begin de-icing the roads by Thursday night.

Officials advised folks to plan ahead and to drive slow during these conditions.

Officials said their trucks will be treating the roads for as long as it takes to keep drivers as safe as possible
