FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating after a local bank was robbed for the third time in the past four months.
Officers say the call went out around 4 p.m. at the Flagstar Bank on West State Boulevard.
The bank, formerly a Wells Fargo location, has been robbed two other times in September of 2018.
Fort Wayne’s NBC previously reported that the bank was robbed on September 17, and then again just a few days later on September 21.
FWPD Public Information Officer Chris Felton described the robber as a tall black male.
Felton said the man entered the branch wearing a disguise, and passed a note to a teller indicating he was armed and that a robbery was taking place. He said the suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police say the male then fled the branch, and may have been seen in a large, 4-door vehicle. Felton said witnesses are currently being interviewed and they are searching for additional evidence.
Updates will come as more details are released.
