FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) -  College football season is here and the Fort Wayne's NBC TODAY team is looking for a restaurant in South Bend if you're in town for a Notre Dame game.

For lovers of southern hospitality, cuisine or decor, Fatbird along W Colfax Ave is a perfect spot for pre or post game fun.

"We're a contemporary Southern Restaurant. Not south as in states but as in a region," says Fatbird partner Jordan Mullins.

"We have Tex Mex, Creole and other staples. We like to incorporate all those flavors and spices. We think you're in for a treat!"

New as of November 2020, Fatbird boasts an array of delicious menu items like grilled vinegar chicken, red beans and rice, fried okra and grilled wings.

"The amount of time I've spent in the South and how warm and hospitable it has been, I felt like that's a part of…something that Indiana could grasp because Indiana does kind of have that southern comfort feel," says executive chef and co-owner Alain Helfrich.

"(Indiana) doesn't quite have the cuisine to match the contemporary and temperature of the south so I kind of wanted to bring that forward, here."

Fatbird has all football and food fans alike covered this season. For more delicious menu options or to learn about the restaurant's history, click here.
