FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE'S NBC) - The Ivy Tech baseball program retires two former players' jerseys, Alex Vela and Andrew Carpenter.

Carpenter, the first pitcher to win a Titans game, was tragically killed by an impaired driver a year and a half ago. He was 21 years old.

"There's not a day that goes by that I think Andrew is not going to be there, like i'm not going to see him. See him smile," Vela said.

Vela, a shortstop for the Titans, was Carpenter's teammate and roommate during his time at Ivy Tech.

Vela transferred to play baseball at the University of Indianapolis.
