LEO, Ind. (FORT WAYNE'S NBC) - The Leo softball team is no stranger to success and aims for it each year. Now the Lions are ready to make up for a lost season last year and make another run at a State Championship.

Leo lost in the title game in 2019, but return two of those starters for this season.

The girls explain the speed, experience and big bats that will carry this team to win. Leo Head Coach, Ben Shappell agrees this year's team could be special.

"I'm hoping we can continue what we've started over the last five or ten years. It's been a great ride for us. I think these kids can get us back to those same levels," Shappell said.

Leo opens the season with a non-conference game versus Manchester next Monday.
