FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE'S NBC) - Saint Francis head coach Kevin Donley didn't know if this day would ever come.

"Give thanks to the good Lord, today, for the opportunity to play a great game," Donley said after his Cougars captured a, 24-10, season-opening victory over Taylor on Saturday afternoon.

A little rust may be attributed to a, 3-3, halftime tie, as USF football found its footing in the second half of play, quickly, building a two score lead in the third quarter.

Cougars tailback Will Homan gained 169 yards from scrimmage, including 16 yards per carry, and the team's first two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving) of the 2021 season.
