FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) - A Fort Wayne family put its game show skills to the test on an episode of "Family Feud" which aired Thursday evening on Fort Wayne's NBC.
The Sattisons' road to Atlanta -- where the show is recorded -- actually began two-and-a-half years ago.
That's when they auditioned, during a try-out staged in Louisville, for a spot on the program.
It took a while, but last summer, they got the call they had been waiting for. Amber Morton -- who is part of the Sattison family -- says it was an incredible bonding experience.
"My mom said last August, 'I can feel it. This is the year we're going to get called.'" Morton's mom was right. It was their year! They traveled to Atlanta in September to appear on the show.
"My mom has been watching 'Family Feud' since the inception 40 years ago," Morton told us during a FaceTime call from Florida where she now lives. She says it had been her mom's dream to get the family on the show.
Morton says because of COVID-19 precautions there was no audience on the days they recorded their episode. She says the families waiting to go on stage, served as the audience instead. She says Steve Harvey would pull up a stool and tell the audience jokes during breaks.
The Sattison Family didn't walk away with a win, but Morton says she'll cherish the memories. "Just the bonding we were able to have because of the show was amazing," she says.
