FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) -- Per the Allen County Department of Homeland Security, drivers are asked to stay off all roads in Allen County and Fort Wayne except for an emergency or to travel to or from required work.
That said, Fort Wayne city plow trucks are expected to be out all night trying to keep up with clearing city streets in light of the winter storm that forecasters say won't let up until early Tuesday morning and includes bitter cold temperatures and wind chills.
We received the following email from an Allen County official about snow plowing:
The Allen County Highway Department has employees out plowing and treating all primary, secondary and gravels roads in all zones. They will continue working until the early evening. They will restart at 5 a.m. Tuesday and will be working throughout the day to make roadways passable. It can take drivers up to 2 hours to make a complete round before starting over, especially in areas where snow is blowing and drifting. Once work on our roadways is complete, work will then start on additions.
