FORT WAYNE, Ind. (FORT WAYNE'S NBC) - The Franke family determined to deliver a season for the Fort Wayne Komets, announcing the team will in fact re-join the ECHL on February 12, 2021 to commence a 50-game season.

The Komets will play in zero exhibition games, providing an additional challenge, as they'll have to keep up with other teams who have already started their seasons.

Komets former MVP and star forward Shawn Szydlowski ecstatic just to be invited back onto the ice.

"There's no words really to describe it," Szydlowski said in a Zoom interview with WPTA.

"It's our livelihood, how we make a living. On top of that, it's just what we love to do."

The Memorial Coliseum will, initially, hold a 2619 fan capacity.

The season will conclude in early June with the possibility of no playoff.
